Fitrockr Activity Points System

Get ready to challenge the world!

Fitrockr users have been competing in Social Fitness Leagues and Challenges across the globe. Besides competing in step challenges, the Fitrockr “Activity Points” system has become the number one choice when hosting a competition.

Fitrockr Fitness Points are based on a special algorithm that expresses a user’s true activity level independent of their steps or sport type.

A special Fitrockr feature is its internal activity points calculation which takes each user’s individual characteristics like age, weight, height and gender into account. This ensures comparability between all users and all type of sports. While most trackers and platforms focus on accumulating steps only, Fitrockr supports also sports that are not based on steps such as Crossfit or Rowing.

Fitrockr calculates activity points based on the “relation between active and resting calorie burn” of a user.

The “resting calorie burn” (Basal Metabolic Rate — BMR) is the amount of energy expressed in calories that a person needs to keep the body functioning at rest. In other words, these are the calories burned by a user’s body while sleeping or not doing anything.

The “active calorie burn” is the amount of energy expressed in calories that a person generates through activity. In other words, these are the calories burned by a user’s body beyond sleeping or not doing anything.

Fitrockr Activity Points are calculated by setting the active calorie burn in relation to the resting calorie burn as follows:

Active Calories / Resting Calories * 100 = Activity Points

This simple formula ensures both, that each user is challenged by their own physical condition to earn activity points and that points are rewarded independent of type of sport. The only pre-requisite is a fitness tracker that is able to determine a user’s total calorie burn for a day.
