Screen Control on Garmin Wearables
Many projects do not want their users to be influenced by their activity and health information during data collection.
The Fitrockr platform provides two options to effectively control the screen of a Garmin Device and hide / blank out its data:
Option A) Partial-Lockdown
The feature will block the user from scrolling into activity and health details on the device when swiping up and down.
The setting can be activated in the Research & Control Center at SETUP > PROJECTS, edit a project and select HIDE DATA ON DEVICE.
This will block scrolling after the next Bluetooth sync of the device.

Some default watch faces may show basic activity information. In this case, we recommend to manually change the default watch face prior handing out the device. Watch face can be changed at Menu > Watch Face.

Please note that users are still be able to access device settings and could theoretically reconfigure the device to bring the data view back. This cannot be technically prevented.
Option B) Full-Lockdown
The feature will completely block device access by manually setting a secret passcode.
The setting can be activated on compatible devices at SETTINGS > SYSTEM > PASSCODE. Set a secret passcode before handing out the device to participants.
This will prevent participants from accessing any data or feature on the device.

Some default watch faces may show basic activity information. In this case, we recommend to manually change the default watch face prior handing out the device. Watch face can be changed at Menu > Watch Face.
It is also advised to disable the Morning Report (Settings > Notifications & Alerts > Report Settings > Morning Report) on the device as it will otherwise block the screen for a few hours every morning. The daily morning report will automatically disappear after some time but it might be considered annoying by users.
Please note that users will no longer be able to record activities as the feature will be locked.
