User ID and Wearable ID Management

A project requires administrators to manage user IDs and wearable device IDs. Fitrockr supports ID management as follows:

User IDs

The use of User IDs can have various reasons such as uniquely identifying a participant, linking the profile to other systems, spreadsheets or databases and to pseudonymize profile information.

Each Fitrockr user profile is uniquely identified via its email address (which does not need to exist). If your project utilizes its own user IDs, you can enter the ID into the “First Name” or “Last Name” field in the user profile.

Wearable IDs

The documentation of Wearable IDs is also beneficial to keep track of utilised device in the project and associating devices with users. The following wearable IDs can be used in the Fitrockr platform:

MAC Address: the wearable MAC address is a unqiue ID that is transferred from the device to Fitrockr. The However, the MAC address changes whenever the Garmin device is factory resetted. Even though Fitrockr provides this address, it is not recommended to use it as a unique identifier.

Go to User > select a user > Profile > Device to view the MAC address.

Unit ID: the wearable unit ID is a unqiue ID ID that is transferred from the device to Fitrockr. The unit ID remains the same even if the Garmin device is factory resetted. Therefore it suits very well as a unique identifier. The unit ID can only be found in the Garmin device system settings. It is not printed on the device.

Go to User > select a user > Profile > Device to view the Unit ID.

Serial Number: the wearable device serial number is a unqiue ID printed on the device case. However, it is not transferred from the device to Fitrockr. If the device serial number should be maintained in Fitrockr, it is recommended to manually enter it into the “Location” field in the user profile.
